Hello friends! I have been M.I.A for a while. So many good things happening in my life- being apart of a Coding Academy, listening to speakers, traveling, and now working with Shea Moisture. I've been using their products since I first went natural (around the end of 2015), so I am definitely familiar with their products!
Let's take a look inside my first box!
AFRICAN BLACK SOAP BAMBOO CHARCOAL
CLARIFY & REFRESH
Detoxifying Foaming Facial Wash with Aloe
Somehow Shea Moisture has infused black charcoal into their African Black Soap line. Black charcoal helps to balance oily, blemish-prone skin- leaves skin clean, smooth and refreshed.
The product description & claims:
Shea Moisture’s African Black Soap Bamboo Charcoal body scrub deeply cleanses and exfoliates skin with a detoxifying cocktail of ingredients. This gentle body scrub buffs away dead skin cells while also helping to absorb excess oil and impurities. African Black Soap blended with bamboo charcoal helps balance and draw out dirt from problem skin while organic Raw Shea Butter helps moisturize and soothe. Leaves skin cleansed, purified, and smooth. African Black Soap- Cleanses and hydrates problem skin, Bamboo Charcoal- absorbs oil and impurities to help detoxify and purify skin. Tea Tree Oil- Helps soothe and calm troubled skin.
My impressions: Well, first thing, I'm not use to a 'foam' cleanser- so I feel like I'm not using enough product. Second thing, since it is a foam, I have to be careful while I'm spreading the product around on my face- as it has gotten into my eye a couple of times. Overall, this product does leave my skin feeling clean- it even takes off my makeup. I've only been using this product a week and a half, so results are minimal. I'll let ya know when it's been a month!
Hydrating Gelee Moisturizer
The Hydrating Gelee Moisturizer is an ultra-light gel formulation, and helps to balance oily, blemish-prone skin.
The product claims:
This gel moisturizer with clarifying African Black Soap and Bamboo Charcoal dries invisibly to provide ultra-light hydration while helping to balance oily, blemish-prone skin. Cooling Aloe soothes and nourishes leaving skin feeling hydrated, smooth and refreshed. After cleansing and toning, apply to face and neck with upward motion.
My impressions: The gelee moisturizer feels like...a silky serum (lol, hard to explain the texture). It goes on very smooth and leaves a cooling sensation due to the aloe that is in it. The product absorbs right into the skin and leaves my face glowing! The only critique I have on this product, is that I it came in a small pump bottle instead of a jar- be careful opening it!
BambooCharcoal Body Srub
with Tea Tree Oil
Shea Moisture's African Black Soap Bamboo Charcoal body scrub deeply cleanses and exfoliates skin with a detoxifying cocktail of ingredients.
My impression: I've been using this in the shower for past two weeks, and I noticed by skin feels a tad softer. I'm sure after continuously using this until its gone, I'll see a more dramatic difference. It has a nice smell, really tiny exfoliating beads (which i love!), and washes off easily.
